Learn a few Arabic/Tunisian common words & phrases

You will find little difficulties with language in the main tourist areas of Tunisia. Many Tunisians speak many languages, and are at least trilingual with Arabic, French and English. Some include German and Italian to this repertoire.

French is also very common, as reminiscent of the French protectorate period. French is the language in which business is carried out.

It will be greatly appreciated if you do learn some basic Arabic/Tunisian words. Here are a few to get you started:

Good morning - Asslama
Welcome - Marhba
Please - Min fadlik
Thank you very much - chokran (This one is very useful, I remembered the phrase "shoo Karen" as a learning key for this, and I have yet to forget it)
Soon - ILA illika
Have a nice day - Sabaha al khir
Good night - Tisbah alla khir
Good appetite - Chahiya tayiba
Good evening - Massa el khir
Goodbye - bisslama
